COUPLE
THERAPY

Having a long and happy partnership is easier said than done. While the initial phase is easy and carefree, more and more conflicts accumulate after a while. Even little things can lead to an argument and what was once a loving togetherness has long since resembled a dance on the minefield - you are in a relationship crisis.

As a couple, do you find yourself in the same situations again and again and just get stuck?

Many couples believe that when they find themselves in a stalemate, they have lost their way; this is the only way they are on the right track.

David Schnarch

Many relationships go through ups and downs, especially when the phase of being in love is long over and everyday life has crept in. Relationship work then takes on a whole new meaning. You are not alone when it feels like your relationship is work.

Most of the time, arguments and conflicts are repeated in relationships because the core of their subject is unconscious. Conflicts are often just the effects of deeper issues. There is a cause behind the conflict and this needs to be examined in more detail.

Reasons for couples therapy

  • repetitive arguments and deadlocked arguments

  • Jealousy and abuse of trust

  • growing apart

  • Decision-making - to go or stay?

  • Frustration and unfulfilled sexuality

  • the desire to explore the relationship's potential for development

Course of a couple therapy

In the sessions, I help couples better understand their deadlock. Often no real exchange takes place in relationship crises. Together we work out when the ease and loving interaction have given way to arguments and anger. Raising awareness of unhealthy relationship patterns and sustaining behavior patterns is a first step towards being able to meet each other more authentically. I help to establish clear and honest communication. Only then can it be worked out what is necessary for healing and what steps it takes to revive love.

FAQ's

Is couples therapy covered by health insurance?

Couples therapies are usually not covered by health insurance and are paid for by the couples themselves.

How long does couples therapy last?

A general duration can hardly be foreseen and varies from person to person, as couples bring very different topics with them. Some just want advice on a specific topic, others bring with them deeper conflicts that go far beyond a single consultation.

I want to start therapy but my partner doesn't. What should I do?

Couples therapy should be carried out with the consent of both parties. Motivation is a crucial variable for the effectiveness of a therapy. Perhaps there are plausible reasons why your partner shies away from therapy. If necessary, one-on-one consultations can then be included in which the therapist goes deeper into a person's problem. I would be happy to arrange a one-on-one interview for the time being in order to discuss this topic in more detail.
